My Soul Waits For the Lord...Psalm 130:6

Once in a while I find an email that just hits home. Though I don't do a lot of air travel, the point is well taken. I thought I would share.

Expect Delays

My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—yes, more than those who watch for the morning. — Psalm 130:6

When the gentleman put up his hand to stop me from going through security at the airport, I complied. I already had stripped off my shoes, jacket, and purse to be scanned. Finally, the man waved me through and then immediately began wanding me. The wand sounded like a loaded Geiger counter that had just struck pay dirt as he whisked it around my chubby anatomy. The woman on the scanner then pointed out that my purse and carry-on needed to be searched.

I bet the Israelites never anticipated that it would take forty years to reach the Promised Land. Talk about delays. Enemies, rebellion, war, sickness . . . there was always something slowing them down and delaying their arrival.

What looked like sheer inconvenience and man-made barriers actually had been orchestrated by the hand of God. He knew the exact moment they would reach their destination. Delays were as much in his plan as manna and quails.

I remind myself of that when a flight is canceled, a mistake is made, an order is lost, a doctor’s report is delayed, or a request is misunderstood. We don’t know, but God might be protecting us with these delays. They may be God’s way of helping us realize our need for trust, patience, adaptability, and relinquishment.

I love it when...

I love it when kids say the darndest things. Take for instance my friend Bernadette who posted this, "On Saturday we were driving down Court Street and DJ noticed a yard sale sign on a pole that was crooked. His comment "They are having an underground yard sale??" Gotta love the innocence!"
And my daughter Samantha who says all of the time, "Mom, you're my best friend." So sweet!

Kitty litter surprise on a Sunday night.

Do you ever have one of those days when you don't want to get out of bed? I did that today. It's Sunday, I didn't have anything on the schedule and didn't even have to work. I only got up to help my kids with preparing food and did a couple loads of dishes. By 2:30pm I was still in my pjs and decided to take a shower and get dressed only because we ran out of milk.
I did end up going to JCP and found 3 pairs of jeans on clearance for $3.97 each for Nathan. Score!
So now I am dressed still and it's 10pm! I was reading some posts on my facebook and one of my friends posted the grossest cake recipe I've ever heard of! Here it is for you to gag on:
